How to Solve the 4-Gallon Problem in Die Hard With a Vengeance

Okay. I'm tired of explaining this to people. The problem in Die Hard With a Vengeance goes like this:

"You have a 3 gallon jug and 5 gallon jug. Use only those two jugs to get 4 gallons of water."

Okay.

Step 1: Fill in the 5 gallon jug.

Step 2: Pour the 5 gallon into the 3 gallon jug.

NOTE: This will leave 2 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.

Step 3: Empty the 3 gallon jug.

Step 4: Pour the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug.

NOTE: Now the 3 gallon jug has 2 gallons. This leaves room for one more gallon. The five gallon jug is empty.

Step 5: Fill the 5 gallon jug.

Step 6: Pour water from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug until it is filled.

NOTE: Now the 3 gallon jug is filled and in the 5 gallon container has...

FOUR FUCKING GALLONS OF WATER!
