Obama Does Comedy Pretty Well
The White House Correspondent's dinner is known for its comedy performances, both by comedians and the President himself. But Obama's so charming a person - despite his flaws - that his end speech is hilarious. The jokes are good - if, you know, light and corny as they should be - and his delivery is great.
Even the gag with the teleprompter was great, something I could actually see someone parodying of Obama do.
What it must be to write comedy for The President. Regardless of his standing, or party, writing jokes for the most powerful man in the United States must be quite an odd experience.
Furthermore, some of his jokes could be insinuations of policy approvals. He makes a pretty positive joke involving gay marriage which could indicate his stance of approval. And his addressing of different issues, through jokes, means that he's at least aware of the criticisms being leveled against him by the citizenry. I wanted to use the word "citizenry" and there it is.
Definitely worth watching:
